Why did Rayne return to Brimstone?Because as I understand it, and correct me if I’m wrong, but in the thirties had they not been playing with technology to destroy all vampires? Isn’t that what the Vesper Shards were for?
Rayne displayers a certain contempt for Brimstone and is no longer working on their missions. But she has Sevrin on loan and still wears the Brimstone insignia.
Wouldn’t you be severely peeved if the agency you worked for plotted to bump you off ‘accidentally’ while eliminating the entire vampire race?

Hmm, yes very good point. Unfortunately, I don't remember the plots very well, it has been years since BR 1 for me and I don't even really remember BR2 much and I just played it last year! I understand where your coming from, but I am going to have to replay the whole game now. And make myself feel better about cheating in the past.

I just heard there’s a secret FMV in the game set 8 years before BR2 in which Rayne steals Sevrin away from Ephemra.

I didn’t get to try it yet but apparently you go to cheats and enter ‘WANT THIS DARK REALITY TAINT QWEEF’. Then go to 'Extras' then 'Movies’ and it should be there.

From its position amongst all the other movies I think this one takes place after you kill Slezz and before you get to the wet works.
Okay, so it looks like Rayne’s in a train station on the platform and Ephemera shows up doing her shadows routine. Rayne comments it’s a nice trick. Ephemera checks Rayne remembers her and Rayne asks if Ephemera remembers what happened 8 years ago. They comment about Rayne snatching Ephemera’s ‘shadow pet’ before she could turn him, and that she made sure he’d never forget her in his dreams. Rayne comments that must be why he gave up sleeping.
At this point it seems like Ephemera’s about to do to Rayne what she does to Ferril later, but she hears a voice in her head and draws back. Severin overheard parts of the conversation but didn’t dare speak while Ephemera was in the room. Rayne jokes she could call Ephemera back so Severin and her could catch up, Severin declines.
(Ephemera has these guys with her who have dreadlocks and goggles with loads and loads of red eyes. They also appear on one of the loading screens but I don’t remember seeing them anywhere else in the game. I think there was supposed to be a whole section in the underground train station that takes you above ground to the Wet Works but they cut it out.)
