What you liked/ What you didn't like (pros and cons)Hi yeah, I'm new, most of you might know me from PLi as WinstonIsPyshcotic. As Abi knows (I hope this Abigail is pink_oracle from PLi) Well she knows I've pestered her about BR for a long time, and I appreciate her putting up with me and accurately answering my many questions.

Plus which words do they use so that it's rated M ?

Pros are atmosphere, and the game has a lot of it. Very creepy very gothic. The Louisiana levels are so creepy with the swamp water all around, the flooded graveyard is great. And in the Argentine levels you get a real sense of doom as you go deeper and deeper into the military base. By the time you’re in the mines with all the monsters and the army guys are screaming in terror you really start to wonder if you’ll ever get out.
And the German castle is the best with the feral vampires jumping out at you from all over. And one minute there’s a little bat floating around your head and suddenly it drops on you and it’s the size of a German Shepard!
Also you get to fire rocket launchers and feed on the blood of Nazis who cry out “I don’t want to die!”
Cons are. Hmmmm. Well the graphics are a bit old now. Rayne’s face is a little bit weird. Plus the controls are a bit Resident Evil. You have to press an action button to get Rayne to turn around. If you press back she just walks backwards. But all of that you just get used to.
I think the M comes from the fact that just about every time Rayne gets hit in the back she calls the enemy a fucker or a bastard. There’s some more colourful language in Rayne’s conversations also.

Well thats ok for me, the language and all (I think anyone would say that to someone who hits them in the back). Yeah I hear that every single day on the bus. Ugh. Like, some kid was going psycho or something. And he was sitting near the window giving random things that were passing us by, going f--- you and givng people the finger. Ha he gave me the middle finger. All you can really do is ignore it, because what can you really do about it?
I can deal with that. Being the person that she is, I imagine her having a "colorful vocabulary"
Please tell me anything else that she does that may be questionable to some parents.
(sorry about such a long post)

Well it’s all a bit sexual the way she feeds. She’ll jump on top of people and make moaning noises. It could be seen as risqué.

I have noticed that. If it truely bothers me I can mute it, but that's the least of my Mom's concerns. If she let me have the Sims I imagine that that wouldn't bother her. She laughs about stuff like that sometimes. That isn't really that big.

Quick QuestionI was wondering. During gameplay Rayne's health bar is on the left, so what is the diamond shaped thing on the other side with the ring around it?
|
Abigail
|
That's the powers HUD. On top of the diamond is an arrow which is your rage meter. When the arrow turns totally red and glows you can go into BloodRage mode. (More powerful attack power, less damage sustained and slows down time.)
You've got three powers on the diamond.
Dilated Perception. Rayne processes visual information so fast it’s as if time has become slower. She can dodge bullets, sneak up on people, attack fast enemies with greater ease and outrun explosions.
Aura Vision. See enemies in the dark as a colour.
And for the last mission in the game Rayne inherits the ability to zoom in for sniping. I only found one occasion in the German mission to use this which is probably why it doesn’t appear in BR2.

Well......I put BR on my Christmas list and a attachment of information about BR and I took some of your comments from PLi to present to her, and she said she'd think about it. Which I don't know what that means.
|
Abigail
|
It means you’re wearing her down. Keep on at it! Tell her you can’t really think of anything else to put on your Xmas list because all you really want is BR. Tell her how happy you are that you’ll be able to participate in all the conversations now. Tell her you’re so excited you have to burn off energy by vacuuming the house.

.She wasn't to happy about people getting their heads chopped off, but that was the only thing I can remember. She hasn't brought it up ever since though. Do you think I should let her see a cutscene from it or not, because I think that would ruin my chances. Also I've took into consideration what the rest of my family would think. "Ohh. She's playing a M game Ohhh" " What's that game rated Natalie?" "M" "Oo"
I think the only thing holding her back is what my family would think. And my cousin Lauren , sometimes she'll sit there if there's nothing better to do and go "Well that's nice" "That's violent" She comments a lot. It gets annoying. I feel like taping a "T" over the "M" for crying out loud.
P.S
2 years ago I got Aeon Flux for Christmas and it's awesome. If you like BR then you'll love Aeon Flux. It's by Majesco. Very similar to BR, confusing though.

I got Aeon Flux last Christmas. Had to have it when I heard it was made my Terminal Reality. In fact, I was playing it not one hour ago.
The less she sees of the game the better for you. Remind her that everything is fake, Rayne only attacks bad people and monsters and that you see more disturbing stuff on the news then in video games. Because the violence in the news is real.

.Yeah, I always have to play it near Christmas time every year
Yeah I'm in the final stage. It's an awesome game though. Even though I do feel bad about using the Unlimited Health cheat. But on with the subject. I think I'll just not say anything, because she usually gets me everything that is one my Christmas list (which isn't much) sometimes I'm really insulted because some of my own family members called me spoiled. You know I am a only child and I don't ask for much.

Well......Mom said she'll think about it. I don't know. She said she wasn't sure. It's mostly just like TR you know only with more swearing and blood. Well I'm not going to say anything unless she asks me a question about it.
|
Abigail
|
I’d say it not an awful lot like TR. Lara’s goals are to have a good time and obtain the artefact. Rayne’s goals are to have a good time and kill the target. Where as Lara’s an adventurer Rayne is an assassin. They have very different callings, and ideas of fun.
|
LadyCroft
|
Yes, but the games are both centered around a female protagonist, they both kill people, both the games swear (TR occasinally ), and they're both out for something.
|
Abigail

Lara doesn’t kill people because she wants to. It’s just an unfortunate element to tomb raiding. Rayne loves killing people. She loves to hunt them, massacre them and then drink their insides. Rayne is a killer. Lara is a Tomb Raider, who occasionally shoots people. Lara uses guns because she wants to distance herself from the act of killing. The bullets commit the deed not her. Rayne however likes to feel the blood splatter against her face. Killing is a pleasure for her, it’s in her vampiric inhuman nature.
The games are only similar in that they star woman. But Tomb Raider is an adventure game and BloodRayne is a horror.

Hope! (maybe)My mom was thinking what else to get me for Christmas and I was thinking about a PS3 but Dr. Willard on PLi said they were thinking of "re doing" the PS3, so I said to hold off for now. Now to the main point, Mom said that she got everything on my list, but at first she thought I wanted BR the movie (because they still sell it at our local Walmart, and she said no because it was too violent and the language. But I said "no, not that movie, the game" (it said PS2 beside it!) but I'll have to wait and see[/i]

I'm back for another stab!!!
Okay since I got a laptop over Christmas my computer finally has enough memory for the BR demo. I played it and it was sweet! exept for the controls that I switched. Anyways when would it be a good time to ask Mom about it?
Hello again!
